HISTORY
Our connection to the region begins with the arrival of Samuel Symons Bassett to the Maranoa in 1858. S.S Bassett arrived to Australia at 14 years old, having left Cornwall for a pastoral career. He established the Romavilla winery in 1866, going on to create award winning and internationally recognised wines.
Romavilla became a defining part of the region's early history, along with S.S.Bassett's ambition and vision for the area.
His wine making grew to 200,000 vines outside the township of Roma.
The current Bassett family - Edward & Anna, with Barclay & Amelia- continue this legacy as the 4th and 5th generations on the same soil.
Spanning 5 main properties the family business operates north of Roma, west of Roma, Morven & Augathella QLD.
